The Negev

Today we took a field trip to the Negev, also known as the South, but translated to the dry, arid, desert. We had a pretty long day. It was a 2 hour bus ride to a really cool organization that has created a business for Bedouin women who want to keep their culture and lifestyle but also need money, so they make these beautiful rugs, carpets and bags out of thick wool. Seeing how they made them was so cool. We then went to the Beer-Sheba tel, where Abraham lived around Genesis 25. It was pretty cool and I got to wear this great hat:
We then went to a crazy cool place. It was the water supply for a old city named Arad. I went on a long, treacherous hike and loved it. I did not bring my camera though, so some pictures of it will have to come later. But, needless to say it was absolutely unbelievable. We climbed up a huge white rock mountain. It was so great. Then, we went to Tel Arad and saw all of the cool Byzantine ruins there. Then, we had a two hour bus drive back. Needless to say, I had a couple of pb&honey pita sandwiches after that...

So, sorry there weren't too many pictures yet from today. Here is a good one of Steph and I from yesterday. We have fun together.

Here is a new friend we met in line at the Dome. He is named Karen and I am pretty proud of this shot. Don't worry, we don't touch the strays, even if they are super cute.
